Barbara Ann Mandrell, American country singer, was born on 25th of December and belongs to a musical family in Houston, Texas. She started music at the age of five. At the age of 11, she played steel guitar in front of Chet Atkins and Joe Maphins at a music trade convention in Chicago and after that performance, Maphin invited her to perform as a regular featured performer in his Las Vegas nightclub show.
Barbara who is known as a best singer of 1970s-1980s is one of country music’s most successful female vocalist. She has honor to be the single female singer who has won the “Entertainer of the Year” award for twice.
“I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool” is the most famous number of her with “Till You’re Gone” and “One of a Kind Pair of Fools”. Mandrell received many industry awards and accolades during 1981 to 1983.
On September 11, 1984, she had a serious automobile accident and this was the time when she was at the peak of her popularity. On her accident, Redbook magazine responded with these words
